About Haywood Haven

Transforming Education Together — one child, one family, one community at a time.

Our Mission

Haywood Haven partners with families in academics and Christian discipleship, providing a nurturing community where children can discover their God-given purpose and grow in wisdom, character, and confidence.

We exist to help parents give their children the education they deserve—one that shapes both heart and mind through faith, mastery, and belonging.

Our Vision

To restore joy and purpose to education by empowering families to guide their children’s learning in a Christ-centered, community-based environment.

We envision a generation of young people who know who they are in Christ and are equipped to live out their calling with excellence, integrity, and courage.

As these students grow and walk in their God-given purpose, we believe they will impact their communities in positive, lasting ways—creating a ripple effect of faith, hope, and transformation that extends far beyond the classroom.

Our Story

Haywood Haven began as a simple act of obedience and has grown into a thriving community of faith-filled families pursuing joyful, purpose-driven education together.

When founder and director Melanie Williams began homeschooling her children in 2017, she never imagined it would lead to a full learning program. What started as a handful of students gathered around her kitchen table soon became Thrive Club, a one-room schoolhouse where children learned through curiosity, movement, and faith.

Today, Haywood Haven serves families across Haywood County under the nonprofit umbrella Learning Havens Incorporated, offering mastery-based, Christ-centered education for grades K–6. Melanie continues to lead with the same heart she began with—guiding parents, supporting teachers, leading science labs, and cheering on every child who walks through the doors.

What began around one family’s table has become a community where children are known, families are supported, and faith shapes everything we do.

Our Values

Our four core values form the word H.O.P.E., reminding us that God’s plan for every child is filled with promise and purpose (Jeremiah 29:11).

We also view our role in supporting children and families through this same holistic lens. Our partnership extends beyond academics — we walk beside families in both the challenges and the celebrations, offering encouragement, prayer, and genuine care. Our families know they can lean on us when life is hard and rejoice with us when it’s good. We are wholeheartedly invested in their peace, happiness, and flourishing as part of God’s greater design.

Education at Haywood Haven is a collaboration. Parents, teachers, and students walk together in faith and purpose to build lifelong learners.

We honor the whole child by supporting nutrition, natural healing, and purposeful technology use. Movement, nature, and intentional family culture shape healthy rhythms for growth and lifelong well-being.

How We Learn

Learning as discipleship, where faith, mastery, and joy meet.

At Haywood Haven, we believe learning is an act of worship and a journey of discovery.
Our hybrid rhythm blends the structure of classroom learning with the flexibility of home, allowing children to progress through mastery, build confidence, and deepen their faith.
