Summer Community Center

A summer full of learning, creativity, and community.
Every Tuesday and Thursday, June through August, kindergartners through sixth graders gather for a structured, faith-filled day that keeps minds sharp, promotes creative and grows friendships.

Summer learning loss is real. Our Summer Community Center was designed to address it directly — not through worksheets and rote drills, but through games, creative challenges, and hands-on projects that children genuinely enjoy.

Like everything at Haywood Haven, this is a Christ-centered environment where children feel safe, seen, and encouraged to grow in confidence and character.

What Every Day Is Built On

Faith in Action

Every day begins in a Christ-centered environment where children feel safe, known, and encouraged to grow in character as well as knowledge.

Level Up Learning

Game-based math and language arts every morning prevent the summer slide and send children back to school in the fall stronger than when they left.

Hands-On Enrichment

Every afternoon brings a new project — cooking, crafts, woodworking, drama, nature, and more — led by Summer Builder parents who share their own skills and creativity.

Community Partnership

This program is built by its families. Summer Builder parents volunteer monthly, lead enrichment sessions, and make this as much a community effort as a structured program.

Daily Schedule

A Balanced Rhythm Every Tuesday and Thursday

Drop-off begins at 8:30. Each day follows the same reliable structure so children settle in quickly and families can plan around it.

Level Up Learning

Keeping Minds Sharp All Summer

The summer slide is the measurable loss of academic skills that occurs when learning stops during the break. Our Level Up Learning block runs every morning and addresses it directly through game-based math and language arts that feel nothing like school.

Students play, compete, collaborate, and — almost without noticing — stay sharp. This is not remediation. It is maintenance and momentum, designed to ensure that every child walks into the fall semester at least where they left it in spring, and often a step ahead.

Something New, Every Week

The enrichment block runs from 1:00 to 3:00 each session and changes weekly. Activities are led by our Summer Builders — the parent volunteers who make this program possible. Sessions marked with a fee require a $5 materials contribution.

Monthly Adventures for the Whole Family

Community meetups are optional family outings coordinated by Haywood Haven parents as a courtesy to our community.

Parent or guardian attendance is required at all meetups. Families are responsible for transportation, cost, supervision, and the conduct of their own children throughout the event and during travel.

Field trip details, costs, and registration links will be shared with enrolled families ahead of each date. Additional trips may be added throughout the summer.

Membership Options

Choose the Tier That Fits Your Family

Whether you want to be deeply involved or simply drop your child in knowing they are in good hands, there is a place for your family here. Feel free to change your tier monthly to fit your schedule.

Community Builder

$250 / child / month

Our most community-rooted option. Builder families commit to volunteering each month, and it is their hands, creativity, and leadership that make the enrichment program what it is. Summer Builders plan and lead enrichment sessions, bringing their own skills and passions into the room.

Community Participant

$350 / child / month

Full participation in every Tuesday and Thursday session — Level Up Learning, enrichment activities, and monthly field trips — with no volunteering requirement. The right choice for families whose schedules make regular involvement difficult.

Drop-In

$25 – $50 / day

No monthly commitment. Attend the days that work for your family. Ideal for families testing the program or wanting flexibility week to week.

Materials fees ($5) apply to select enrichment sessions and are in addition to membership or drop-in rates. All fees are noted on the schedule so families can plan ahead.
